Retropharyngeal abscess Age Usually child or if adult (trauma) Clinical Presentation Fever, sore throat, stiff neck, no trismus Diagnosis Lateral cervical radiograph or CT imaging                                         Treatment Stabilize airway Surgical drainage Antibiotics (penicillin and metronidazole)
